Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Walkthrough – Mission 43: Shining Lights, Even in Death

To trigger this mission, Snake must complete three missions or Side Ops after the hijacking of Sahelanthropus from Mother Base. Once the third mission is completed, Miller will contact Snake to inform him about a new outbreak. This leads to a one-time-only cutscene where Snake decides to take matters into his own hands and handle the situation himself.

The mission starts with Snake entering the ruined facility, where numerous events unfold around him. Despite the chaos, Snake's primary objective is to navigate through the ruins and reach the top of the facility.

To progress through the mission, simply follow the path and ascend the stairway until you reach the top floor, where you will find the scientist. After the cutscene concludes, Snake will be rewarded with a pair of TDG goggles.

After acquiring the TDG goggles, Snake must retrace his steps through the facility to eliminate all the infected soldiers. Equip the goggles to easily spot the infected personnel, as they will be highlighted. Proceed to execute each infected staff member, ensuring that none are left alive to prevent further outbreaks. Be cautious as you navigate back, as the area may still contain non-infected guards or other threats.

Upon reaching the first floor, look for a special lower level that can be accessed through an unlockable door. Inside, you'll encounter a group of infected soldiers who must be executed to contain the outbreak. After dealing with them, make sure to check the back of the room, where you'll find a non-infected soldier. This soldier may provide valuable information or context regarding the situation, so be prepared for a dialogue or additional mission objectives following this discovery.

After securing the non-infected soldier, carry him back to the exit of the facility to trigger a cutscene. This moment serves as a poignant culmination of the mission’s moral complexities. Once the cutscene concludes, you’ll need to put the soldier down in a designated area. After placing him down, execute him to complete the mission. This final act underscores the difficult choices Snake must make in the face of the outbreak, concluding the mission with a heavy emotional weight.
