Persona 5 Series Surpasses 10 Million in Sales

The Persona 5 subseries has achieved a remarkable milestone, surpassing 10 million units in sales after the release of Persona 5 Tactica in November 2023, according to an announcement from publisher Atlus on X/Twitter. The achievement was commemorated with a special illustration by series artist Shigenori Soejima, featuring the charismatic Persona 5 protagonist Joker and his feline companion, Morgana.

Atlus expressed gratitude to the dedicated fanbase, stating, "The worldwide sales of the Persona 5 series have surpassed 10 million units. To celebrate, check out this special thank-you illustration from Shigenori Soejima. Thank you so much to our players for your continued support."

It's important to note that the Persona 5 series encompasses the fifth main entry and its associated spin-offs, excluding titles like Persona 3 or Persona 4 Golden from the sales tally. The series has seen the release of four spin-offs alongside Persona 5, including the rhythm game Dancing in the Starlight, the expanded Royal edition, the Dynasty Warriors-style action game Strikers, and the tactical role-playing game Tactica.

While specific sales figures for Tactica haven't been disclosed by Atlus, it is speculated that the November launch played a pivotal role in propelling the series beyond the 10 million mark.

Looking ahead, Atlus is capitalizing on the momentum by releasing a remake of the third installment titled Persona 3: Reload on February 2, 2024. This ground-up remake promises a fresh experience with a new voice cast, updated graphics, and more. Unveiled at the 2023 Xbox Games Showcase, Persona 3: Reload specifically recreates Persona 3, omitting features introduced in Persona 3 FES or Persona 3 Portable, such as a female protagonist and additional content. The announcement follows a series of rumors and a final leak preceding the event.
